Benefits
Fuel-Dri absorbs and holds water as it accumulates in the tank, from condensation and other sources. Periodically, the Fuel-Dri unit is removed and the absorbing element is replaced.
Fuel-Dri is effective in all hydrocarbon fuels, such as diesel, gasoline (including oxygenated fuel) and jet fuels, and also in light oils such as hydraulic fluid. Fuel-Dri works hand in hand with Biobor JF - the industry standard biocide: Together they create a formidable defense against the two most pernicious types of recurring fuel tank contaminants: water and microbes.
Applications
Fuel-Dri is widely used in military applications, trucking fleets, underground and other storage tanks, recreational vehicles and marine craft: in virtually any fuel tank from 20 to 20,000 gallons capacity.
Procedures
If large amounts of water are present, tank should be drained or pumped dry. If badly contaminated with microbes, fuel should be shock-treated with Biobor JF and the residue removed. Good housekeeping is important in treating water and slime problems, but its not a cure.
Fuel-Dri is a device which is installed via an opening in the tank (typically the fill inlet) so that it rests flat on the bottom. Attach retrieval cable securely at opening. Check the Fuel-Dri unit at least monthly. Replace every 90 days, or sooner if full.
Handling and Disposal
Fuel-Dri units are made of stainless steel, a special durable polypropylene and nylon. The absorbent material is identical to that used in disposable diapers. There will be a small fuel residue left on the surface of a Fuel-Dri Cartridge upon removal from a tank. This will usually evaporate within 24 hours. Handle and dispose of appropriately. Fuel-Dri is not classified nor restricted by DOT or EPA.
