Fizzy®

Specification
Hammonds offers Fizzy® as their trade name for diethylene glycol monomethyl ether which conforms to both ASTM D-1655 for jet fuel and D-910 for AVGAS. It is refined to the requirement specification of ASTM D-4171 type III and may be used in concentrations of 0.10 to 0.15% by volume. In addition, Fizzy® is also a MIL-SPEC product under MIL-I-85470 (AS).

Functionality
Many modern corporate, commercial and military aircraft require an anti-icing additive for safe operation. Fizzy®, commonly known as DiEGME, is used in aviation fuels to prevent the formation of ice crystals that can stop fuel flow. This is accomplsihed by first ensuring that the additive is properly injected and evenly distributed in the fuel. Once properly injected, the additive remains in the fuel until entrained water becomes undissolved. Fizzy® then encapsulates these water droplets and depresses their freeze point preventing them from forming into ice crystals.

Added Benefits
Hammonds supplies its Fizzy® additive customers free fuel sample testing to verify that your additive is being injected at the proper ratio. Another reason for using Hammonds Fizzy® is that free desiccant dryers are delivered with each shipment. A desiccant dryer should be on each additive suply tank to ensure that the additive stays dry and uncontaminated.
